Snow, Freezing Rain on Thanksgiving: Massachusetts Weather Outlook

Dreaming of a White Thanksgiving? You may get your wish, if everything breaks right (or wrong.)

Freezing drizzle and some very light snow is possible Thursday as Massachusetts bellies up to the holiday table.

The best chance of snow - about an inch - will be Western and Central Mass., some of the MetroWest area, and the Merrimack Valley. The Boston area and the South Shore are likely to get an uncomfortable mix of drizzle and light snow. The Cape should be clear of the white stuff, but will get a bit of rain.

Rain or snow, there won't be too much of it. There isn't much moisture with this front, said NECN meteorologist Aaron Perry.

"A weak warm front moving east out of the Ohio Valley/Great Lakes will produce a light overrunning event here in New England on Thanksgiving," said Perry.

The mixed precipitation could make for some hazardous driving on a day everyone has somewhere to go.

"Light snow will continue into mid-morning across Southern New England before changing over to light rain/drizzle as daytime heating warms the atmosphere into the afternoon," he said.
