Sumiao Hunan Kitchen Celebrates World Baijiu Day

Hunanese restaurant to serve up sizzling baijiu-laced shrimp dish from August 6 to August 12

In celebration of World Baijiu Day, Kendall Square’s vibrant and contemporary Hunanese restaurant Sumiao Hunan Kitchen will be serving up a hot new dish using the world’s most consumed spirit. Prepared table-side on a sizzling hot plate from August 6 – August 12, Sumiao’s Sizzling Baijiu Shrimp ($30) is loaded with shrimp marinated in baijiu and oil and then sprinkled with a mix of soy sauce, scallions and peppers.

In addition to popping baijiu by the bottle including Maotai ($288), Wuliangye ($160) and Luhzou Laojiao ($98), the team at Sumiao also offers tastings of baijiu in one-ounce pours from the Hong Kong ($11) and Jiannanchun ($12) varietals. Sumiao’s baijiu cocktails are great options for those seeking a sweeter taste of Chinese culture, including Sumiao’s Side Car mixing Hong Kong baijiu, Hardy VS cognac, cointreau, lemon reduction ($12); as well as the popular Perpetual Motion made with Mianzhu Daqu, blood orange, lime, elderflower liqueur and mint ($13).

The Sizzling Baijiu Shrimp will be offered from Monday, August 6 to Sunday, August 12 for $30 per serving;
