“Three Numbers Away” Song & Video Raises Awareness About 988

Westport, MA – May 30, 2025 – Samaritans Southcoast, the region’s 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline center, is proud to announce the release of Three Numbers Away — a powerful original song and music video created to amplify the message of hope, connection, and life-saving support that 988 provides.

Samaritans Southcoast’s Program Director, Rebecca Howard, and her three sons wrote and produced the lyrics, song, and video. Blending personal creativity with professional passion, they deliver a moving anthem about the importance of reaching out in times of emotional crisis.

“Three Numbers Away is more than just a song — it’s a message to anyone struggling that help is close, and they are never truly alone,” said Rebecca Howard. “Writing this with my sons was a deeply emotional experience. We wanted to create something that feels authentic and comforting, especially for those who may not know where to turn.”

The music video features visuals that highlight both vulnerability and resilience, honoring those impacted by suicide and celebrating the power of human connection. It highlights Samaritans Southcoast’s work across Massachusetts and its deep roots in the community, especially with young people. The song and video serve as a heartfelt invitation to call, text, or chat 988 when in distress.
Rebecca Howard was recently featured on the national 988 Crisis Jam LIVE and spotlighted in this week’s edition of #CrisisTalk, further affirming the song’s national relevance and resonance in the suicide prevention field.

At a time when so many people are feeling anxious, isolated, and uncertain about the future, this song has the power to become the anthem of the summer — a reminder that hope and help are just three numbers away.”

Since becoming the primary 988 center for Bristol and Norfolk Counties in 2022, Samaritans Southcoast has answered over 100,000 calls and helped reduce suicide rates by 36% in Bristol County and 22% in Norfolk County — outpacing statewide trends.
