Tom Brady Tackles NFL's Domestic Abuse Issue

Also, what does it mean when the Patriots yell "Trump" and "Clinton" before a play?

Tom Brady's Monday morning radio interviews on WEEI have been a bit more revealing than in past years. That trend continued this morning.

Brady took a rare swipe at the NFL and its embattled domestic violence policy on the "Kirk and Callahan" program. While keeping his distance when pressed on the much-discussed one-game suspension for New York Giants kicker Josh Brown, Brady did say that domestic violence is a "horrible issue."

"I think it is the league’s issue," he said. "Obviously, there is a lot of controversy with that. I’m trying to stay out of all that. I will let them handle it. I think that is their responsibility. I certainly don’t condone any part of domestic violence. I think it is a terrible, terrible thing. I think the league, they have to handle those types of things.”

He wasn't too damning, opting to "stay in my lane."

"I certainly have opinions, I just don’t really care to share them," he said.

Brady did, however, sneak in this potential shot: "The NFL, they claim to take tough stances, this is their situation."

Brady sat out the first four games of this season after falling victim to one of the NFL's "tough stances" during the Deflategate investigation. The NFL has come under heavy fire from fans, players, media and even reportedly its owners, who are concerned that the league invested so much time and resources into the Brady investigation yet still can't properly handle domestic violence issues.

The NFL spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours investigating, researching and litigating Brady's allegedly deflated footballs. But the league slapped Brown with a quick one-game suspension before news came out that he had written in his journal about being extremely abusive to his then-wife, information the King's County (Washington) Sheriff's Office was able to obtain, but not the NFL.

Why do the Patriots yell "TRUMP," "CLINTON"?

Brady also talked Trump again, though this time in a far less controversial manner.

He said the Patriots have audible calls of "Trump" and "Clinton" — though he obviously failed to say what they were.

If we had to guess, we'd assume "Clinton" is getting away with a handful of penalties on any given play, while "Trump" is running backwards 10 yards, slamming your facemask into the turf, and celebrating as if you scored a touchdown.
