'Trapped In Manhole' Boston Firefighters Rescue Woman From Sewer
It took hours to rescue the person from the sewer, but firefighters were able to get the person out this morning.
BOSTON, MA — While most people were sleeping last night, Boston firefighters were rescuing a person who was trapped inside the sewer on School Street.
Someone called police around 3:45 a.m. reporting a person was trapped "in a manhole" behind 45 School St., according to fire officials. It was unclear at first if the person fell through a manhole or if they'd attempted to climb down themselves. When they arrived firefighters set up for confined rescue. And a few hours later the person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
WHDH reported that a woman had climbed down on purpose through a grated sewer cover, possibly to seek shelter, and and got stuck. It's unclear who called for help at this point.
