I-93 was backed up for miles. Watch the video of the moment the truck became stuck Thursday.

BOSTON, MA — The driver of the truck that hit the ceiling of O’Neill Tunnel, causing an hours-long backup that stretched to I-95 during the morning commute Thursday, was cited by state police for an overheight and overwidth truck.

The truck's cargo hit the roof before 6:30 a.m., closing lanes on I-93 South for about two hours Thursday. State police said the lanes were cleared around 8:20 a.m., but traffic was still backed up for miles. Route 1 was also heavy up into Saugus.

MassDOT said it had been working to remove the tractor trailer and two disabled vehicles.
