UFC 196: Did Conor McGregor Win?

The UFC's biggest star took on fan favorite Nate Diaz.

BOSTON, MA - Nate Diaz upset UFC's biggest star in "The Notorious" Conor McGregor in UFC 196 Saturday night.

McGregor, one of the loudest and toughest fighters the UFC has ever seen, lost in the second round to a submission.

Diaz, who won via a rear-naked choke, was a late substitution to fight, accepting just two weeks before the contest. Things didn't look good early, as McGregor seemed to land some good punches early.

McGregor — who has fought at Boston's TD Garden twice, including a main event bout in January 2015 — moved up to the 170-pound welterweight division to take on fan-favorite Diaz in the headliner in Las Vegas.

Earlier in the night, Miesha Tate defeated Holly Holm with a rear-naked choke at 3:30 of the final round to win the women's bantamweight championship. It was Holm's first loss, and her first fight since making headlines by beating Ronda Rousey for the title.
