Voices of Hope still has some Magic To Do!!!

Voices of Hope's Annual Fall Gala 2022 An Evening with Sondheim, Schwartz, and Webber to benefit the MGH Cancer Center.

Voices of Hope’s “March to a Million” campaign is nearing the finish line – having donated more than $900,000 to cancer research! To continue advancing towards this incredibly ambitious and significant goal, a fall gala is underway, crafted to attract and engage a broad audience through a production that celebrates musical theater’s most beloved composers. An Evening with Sondheim, Schwarz, and Webber promises a rousing theatrical experience of song and dance that celebrates the work of some of Broadway’s finest: Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story, Into the Woods, Company), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Godspell), and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat).

The music of these luminary contemporary artists is credited with changing the face of theatrical performance and laying the groundwork for a new generation of creativity, demonstrated by their bold new visions, direction, and vision (e.g., Lin Manuel Miranda; In the Heights, Hamilton, Jason Robert Brown; The Last 5 Years, Songs for a New World, etc.)

Similarly, donations through Voices of Hope directly support bold new directions of cancer research. Immunotherapy, as well as the incredible advances in genomics and targeted therapies, are creating a whole new generation of treatment options and increased hope for both current and future generations of individuals and families impacted by cancer.

About Voices of Hope:
Voices of Hope (VOH) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
This group of over 150 dedicated members voluntarily work year-round to attract donors who support their journey. Having successfully secured private and corporate sponsors including Walmart, Fuddruckers and the Conquer Cancer Coalition of Massachusetts, these financial partners help extend VOH's impact by helping to offset the significant costs associated with theatrical production. With each performance, VOH adds to the thousands of people moved by the power and passion of their song and have joined their ever-growing community of hope for a cure.

Established in 2009 as a way to honor loved ones impacted by cancer, Voices of Hope has achieved a great level of success in raising funds through theatrical and musical performances large and small, in venues such as Symphony Hall, North Shore Music Theatre, TD Garden, Gillette Stadium, the Hatch Shell, and Fenway Park. Since it was launched thirteen years ago, VOH has donated over $900,000 to cancer research and for the last ten years have teamed up with the Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at the MGH Cancer Center.

Founder and president Greg Chastain says, "I am most proud of the fact that this organization not only supports cancer research but has become a tight-knit community where people from all walks of life and talent can come to sing, dance, tech, build, paint or just support each other in their daily lives. Many of our members are cancer survivors or family members/friends of survivors or are there supporting the memory of loved ones they have lost to cancer. Cancer is a club nobody has asked to be in but we have become a family that not only works many hours to support our goals and mission but is there to support others when they need it the most. Many tell us VOH is a second family who they love and can't wait to spend time with each week.”
