The period between Christmas Day and New Year's Day is the most lucrative stretch of the year for the box office. Last year's top movies included "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" and "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" This year the "Mary Poppins" reboot, "Aquaman" and "If Beale Street Could Talk" look set to be the big winners.
There are three movies opening on Christmas Day this year including, "Destroyer," where a police detective reconnects with people from an undercover assignment in her distant past in order to make peace. This one doesn't seem to be playing in the Boston area so far as we could find.
