2 Braintree Town Council Candidates Join The Race

John McKinley and Joseph Lydon picked up nomination papers to run for Braintree's Town Council.

BRAINTREE, MA — Two more candidates entered the race for Braintree's Town Council. John McKinley took out nomination took out nomination papers to run in District 1, while Joseph Lydon hopes to nab the District 3 seat. Thirteen candidates have indicated they are running for Town Council, and turnover is expected, since there's going to be open races in at least four of the council's nine seats.

Races for other town positions have also started to take shape. With School Committee chair Lisa Fiske Heger running for mayor, there's going to be at least one new face on the committee. Karla Morast and James Daiute took out nomination papers, while incumbent vice chair Thomas Devin also announced his intention to seek reelection. Michael Guerriero and Mathhew Sterling will run for Housing Authority.

As of Wednesday, here's who's taken out nomination papers for Braintree's town election on Nov. 5. All town council seats are two-year terms, while all other positions have four-year terms The asterisks indicate incumbents:

The deadline for mayor candidates to pick up nomination papers has already passed. For all other positions, the deadline is 5 p.m., Sept. 13. Braintree's town election is Nov. 5.
