2 Men Caught With Stolen ATM In Braintree: Police

Braintree police said the ATM was stolen from a store in Wayland.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree police arrested one man and are looking for another after officers said they caught the men with a stolen ATM from a Wayland store.

Police said they found the ATM around 3:15 a.m., Thursday, when an officer patrolling the Common Street area saw a suspicious vehicle parked near a church.

When the officer pulled closer, he saw two men standing outside a dark-colored Honda CRV, with an ATM on the ground, police said. Police said the ATM recovered was stolen on Jan. 26, from a store in Wayland.

When the men saw the officer, they tried to escape. One man drove away, while the other ran away, police said. The driver got away after a short police pursuit. Police said the Honda CRV had a Connecticut registration.

Police then set up a search perimeter for the suspect who ran away. The search team included a Braintree police K-9 unit. Around 4:30 a.n., the K-9 team found the suspect hiding under a tarp behind someone's house, police said.

Police said they arrested Darryn Paul Pierre-King, 22, of West Hartford, Connecticut.

He was charged with receiving stolen property and malicious destruction of property and will be arraigned in Quincy District Court Thursday, police said.
