2 More Join Braintree Town Council Race
Two candidates announced bids to run for Braintree Town Council seats in districts 3 and 4.

BRAINTREE, MA — Two more candidates for Town Council took out nomination papers, meaning there are now 15 people running for the council's nine seats. Shawn Cody is the newcomer in the race, running for District 3's wide open seat, while Councilor Stephen O'Brien seeks reelection for District 4.
Turnover is expected in November's election, as there's going to be at least four open races. Councilor At-large Sean Powers isn't seeking re-election, while District 3 Councilor Thomas Bowes and District 1 Councilor Charles Kokoros have announced they're running for mayor. District 5 Councilor David Ringius is also not seeking reelection in his district instead deciding to run for the open at-large seat.
As of Monday, here's who's taken out nomination papers for Braintree's town election on Nov. 5. All town council seats are two-year terms, while all other positions have four-year terms The asterisks indicate incumbents:

The deadline for mayor candidates to pick up nomination papers has already passed. For all other positions, the deadline is 5 p.m., Sept. 13. Braintree's town election is Nov. 5.
