4 From RI Indicted In Connection To South Shore Car Thefts

Four Rhode Island men were indicted after prosecutors said they stole cars, rims and tires in Braintree and Sharon.

BRAINTREE, MA — Four Rhode Island men were indicted by a Norfolk County grand jury after prosecutors said the men were a part of theft ring stealing cars, tires and rims on the South Shore. Belter Giron, Joshua Tanguim, Marcos Torres and Kemoni Mitchell, all of Providence, all faced several charges relates to thefts in Braintree and Sharon.

Prosecutors told the Patriot Ledger the men stole a car parked at the Sharon MBTA station in November 2019. Police tried to stop the men, who took off in two cars cars, and Giron, driving one of the cars, hit an unmarked police cruiser as he fled, police said. Both cars crashed in Sharon, one on Cottage Street and the other on Beach Street.

Police said they saw Giron again outside Sharon High School in a Jeep. He drove off,crashed on Interstate-95 in North Attleboro and ran away, police said. Giron was arrested about a month later.

Prosecutors said the men also stole wheels and rims at the Braintree Logan Express. Massachusetts Port Authority officials said at least two cars were vandalized last November at the bus stop that provides transportation between Braintree and Logan Airport. Giron was also pre

The indictment transfers the case from Stoughton District Court to Norfolk Superior Court, where if convicted, the men could face longer sentences.
