After Mysterious Resignation, Braintree to Hire New Town Clerk
Former Town Clerk Joe Powers resigned following a confrontation with town officials in January.
Braintree officials are expected to name a new town clerk next month.
Former Town Clerk Joe Powers recently resigned. He was previously placed on leave after angrily confronting several town officials following a Town Council meeting in January. Powers and town officials have declined to discuss the incident.
Debra Starr was named Interim Town Clerk.
Town officials advertised for a permanent replacement for Powers. The job would pay between $73,456 and $85,615.
The Town Council is expected to narrow the field down to three candidates on May 1 then name a new clerk.
