All Write-In Race Set For District 6 Council Seat

Matthew Sisk is out and a new write-in candidate has announced his intent to run for the seat.

BRAINTREE, MA — In an unusual turn of events, the person who will represent District 6 on the town council next year will be the one who can get the most write-in votes.

With the announcement that Matthew Sisk will not seek election, that leaves two write-in candidates competing for the seat. Last month, Tim Carey announced that he would launch a capaign for the seat and now another challeger has appeared.

Gerald DeGregorio announced Tuesday that he will also run for the seat. DeGregorio runs two land tile clearing companies and he and his wife have resided in Braintree for 28 years.

“Braintree is an incredible place to live. Debbie and I have loved living and raising our two boys here. It is for that love of our community that I have decided to run as a write-in candidate to give the voters a choice and I hope to have the trust of the people in representing District 6 on the Braintree Town Council. As a small business owner, I feel I can offer a unique business perspective and will work to increase efficiencies and improve town services to our residents by setting priorities and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Volunteering and coaching with our youth sports organizations and charitable organizations has given me firsthand experience in knowing what the needs of our community are. I will bring all of this experience and insight with me as your next District 6 councilor” DeGregorio said in his announcement.

Current District 6 Councilor Dan Clifford has opted not to run for reelection. The 2017 Braintree Town Election is Nov. 7.
