As of now, the class of 2003 is in complete and utter darkness about their ten year reunion. With Thanksgiving fast approaching there is no talk of the reunion, and many classmates are looking for answers. Accepting the position of senior class President on student council in high school, comes with the responsibility of planning the reunions for your class. This concept seems to be difficult for our former President to grasp. Our class President, Mark Cusack, currently a State Representative, has been unwilling to respond to classmates since June, maybe even before then, regarding their ten year reunion. I myself have been trying to reach him all summer and fall to help plan something, but never got even a single acknowledgement of my correspondence, he's completely MIA. As a rep, I would think he would want to reach out to his constituents when they have concerns, no matter the subject.
In high school, we had multiple fundraisers for our class fund, which went towards the normal high school expenses like proms and a class gift and some of us thought that it would start our reunion fund. While, I do understand that reunions cost money to go to, funds in the account should allow us to at least be able to start plans. Something else to consider for the future, is that if we charge a little more upfront that it could help with future reunions down the road like our 20 or 25. Unfortunately, I am unsure what the fund situation is, so this is just an opinion.

After months of reaching out to the original council, all I could get was that Mark said not to worry and that he's working on it; however, not once did he ever reach out personally to my requests. If people have been asking about this since at least the summer, shouldn't something be known by now? Thanksgiving and reunion weekends come every year and it shouldn't be a surprise to plan something for that weekend. The last I heard, is that Mark was still looking at places, but nothing was concrete yet, and it was unknown if and when it would happen. Additionally, something was up with our account and he was looking into it. What does that mean exactly? The class of 2003 is in dark and they want light shed on their reunion questions.

Thanksgiving weekend is known for the reunions, but that doesn't seem to be the case with our class. In 2008, we received notification by a flier and a Facebook post that our reunion would be the day after Christmas. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend because I had plans, but I heard it was a small turnout and nothing special. I know that a lot of people did not get the flier or the Facebook invite, but also being in December is extremely difficult and is not what is expected. If we want to get the biggest turnout for the reunion and funding for future reunions, then it should be Thanksgiving weekend, when it is expected and people are home!
Classmates are furious that there are no answers, no plans and no communication from our former class President. Is it really OK for the state representative to neglect the duties that mean so much to his former classmates, especially, if they are the ones he will be looking to for votes during his re-election? Where do we turn at this point? BHS Class of 2003 want answers about the reunion!
