BHS Girls Hockey Season Dedicated to Team 'Hockey Mom'

On Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Zapustas Rink, as the first puck of the season drops, the Lady Wamps hockey team will honor Paula Connelly by dedicating the season in her memory.

It's hard to imagine a season any better than the Lady Wamps quest for the Boston Garden last year.

The BHS Lady Wamps upset win against Acton-Boxboro, propelled them into their first-ever appearance in the MIAA semi-finals. They fought a tough fight against Arlington Catholic, to eventually lose in overtime.

During this memorable year, quietly and without complaint, "Hockey Mom" Mary Paula Connelly was fighting her own battle against Bladder Cancer. “Paula” was always upbeat and positive, cheering on both her daughters Lauren and Leah, with Wamps mascot Elizabeth in tow.

As The Lady Wamps Season begins, there is an underlying void; a sad sense of loss. Not because of the team's bittersweet season last year, but rather the pain of losing Connelly, who passed away this past June.

On Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Zapustas Rink, Randolph as the first puck of the season drops, the Lady Wamps hockey team will honor Paula Connelly by dedicating the season in her memory.

Spectators are encouraged to attend wearing yellow to promote Bladder Cancer Awareness. All fundraising will benefit the Mary Paula Connelly fund. Donations can be made by purchasing a ticket for $5, which includes entry to the game.

A limited number of Tickets available for pre-sale from any Girls Hockey Player or are available at the door on game night.
