Owning A Dog In Braintree

Dogs are cool :)

I have always been a dog lover! I got my first dog when my parents bought a home when I was 12. Her name was Jasper and she was a mut. A big mut. Almost 100 lbs! She was beautiful. We lost her when I was 21. It was devastating. It took another 6 years for me to get over that and ask my husband for a dog. We got a Beagel and named her Fiona. Boy was she a pain in the butt! But a cute loving dog. She got loose one day when she was a year old and was hit by a driver who was speeding down our road and didn't even stop. My heart again once broken.

A year later I was going threw the doggy blues. I knew I needed a dog to fill full. To feel like my family was complete. I started my research and decided I NEEDED a Basset Hound! Six months of searching I found our Louise. A 5 months old pure breed Basset. I drove to the Cape and picked her, pathetic sad faced self up, and instantly fell in love.

A year and a half later it is everything I dreamed it would be. We live right on the out skirts on Pond Meadow park. We have deer and snakes all sorts of creatures. For my hunting hound it is HEAVEN. We also love to take walks down there! She loves finding turtles by the pond and does get a bit scared but barks and sniffs as much as she can at them!

We are fans over at the pet store where she is basically the only Basset they see often and know her by name. They are WONDERFUL people who really know their stuff! Owning a Basset is hard work. They have sensitive stomachs so the right food and diet is key, not only for their tummies but also their weight. They have LARGE ears which if not cleaned good can get stinky and infected. When asked about everything I would need for my puppy Basset the man was more then happy to take me to everything from food, toys, chewies even ear cleaning stuff!

There is a GREAT dog shop in the landing (I am withholding names as I do not know if business owners want me to say them) and she makes everything from Dog clothes to BIRTHDAY CAKES made just for your furry babies!
