Braintree Babe Ruth Advances to Regional Finals

Braintree beat Central Maine Wednesday afternoon 6-1 to advance to the Babe Ruth 15 Regional Tournament finals in Newtown, CT.

Braintree plays Cranston, RI Thursday at 3 p.m. They must beat Cranston twice to win the tournament.

"Braintree scored a run in the first and never looked back," coordinator Carl Zingarelli said. "Scott Creedon pitched a one-run ballgame and was superb on the mound with zero walks and six hits over seven innings.

"Hitting the ball for Braintree were Sean Casey with three hits, two RBIs, Scott Creedon doubled to drive in an RBI, Dino DiCienzo two doubles, 2 RBIs and scored one run.

"The boys were full of fire and determination, they wanted to beat Maine badly because of our loss to them. The team is now setting its sights on Cranston, RI, who is the sole survivor in the winners bracket... All the boys had a hand in this victory whether on or off the field or with their support of their teammates."
