Braintree Babe Ruth Wins First Game in State Tournament

The 15-year-old Braintree Babe Ruth team won its first game in the state tournament Friday night in Saugus against a great Lynn team, coach Carl Zingarelli said.

"This game was definitely a pitchers duel," Zingarelli said. "Total hits by both teams were eight with some fine defensive plays. Braintree's Scott Creedon pitched a tremendous game for a shutout."

Saturday Braintree faces Taunton at 1 p.m. in Saugus at World Series Park for the second game of round one. They play again Tuesday, July at 5:30 p.m. to cap off the first round.
