Braintree-Based Peabody Properties Invests in Renewable Energy Certificates
The real estate firm has committed six properties to support the development of clean, renewable energy.

Peabody Properties, Inc. – a full-service, Braintree-based real estate firm – today announced that it has contracted with Constellation Energy to purchase Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) that will match twenty-five percent of the electricity used at six properties through December 2013, with the hope of more to come.
According to Constellation Energy – provider of power, natural gas and energy products and services for both homes and businesses across North America – the supplied RECs are Green-e Energy Certified and sourced from wind energy facilities located throughout the United States. Under Peabody Properties’ agreement with Constellation Energy, twenty-five percent of the electricity used at Anchor’s Weigh in Chelsea, Borden Place in Fall River, Cardinal Medeiros Manor in Dorchester, John Boyle O'Reilly School Apartments in South Boston, The Millery in Beverly and Chimney Hill in Cumberland, RI, will be matched by the purchase of these RECs.
Firm Controller, Guy Corricelli, considers environmental stewardship a top priority for Peabody Properties. “By partnering with Constellation Energy and purchasing RECs for six of our communities we have taken our environmental commitment to the next level. We fully support the operation and development of facilities that generate clean, renewable energy and are dedicated to diversifying our portfolio in ways that have widespread benefits to our residents, our partners and the community at large,” said Corricelli.
