Braintree Closing Recycling Center Ahead Of Potential Dangerous Cold

The recycling center will be closed on Saturday, and is set to reopen Monday, Braintree officials announced.

BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Recycling Center will be closed this weekend as weather forecasters predict negative temperatures and a potentially dangerous wind chill.

Braintree officials said they'll keep the recycling center at 257 Ivory St. closed on Saturday due to predicted inclement weather. The recycling center will reopen on Monday at 7:15 a.m., officials said.

Forecasters say that a blast of frosty air coming in Friday could lead to the coldest temperatures in the state since 2016, with wind chill temperatures dropping to -40 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory for Wednesday through Sunday.

"A dangerously cold airmass will overspread the region late Friday into Saturday," the National Weather Service stated.
