Braintree Cops Make Arrest In Monday Night Stabbing
The attack occurred late last night at the site of a metal production plant in Wollaston.
BRAINTREE, MA — A Brockton man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing late Monday night at a Braintree metal production plant.
Jose Martins, no age given, was charged with two counts of assault and battery after he attacked Taunton resident Jorge Monteiro with a knife, police said in a statement Tuesday.
Braintree officers responded to an emergency call around 11:23 p.m. to the site of Wollaston Alloys, at 205 Wood Road near I-93. There they found Monteiro, whose face and hands were covered in blood and whose head was wrapped in a blood-stained sweatshirt, according to the statement.

A crowd of onlookers identified Martins as the assailant. He was standing nearby and “eventually taken into custody,” police said. One of the bystanders gave investigators the knife they believe was used in the incident.
Police did not disclose further details including what might have led to the attack.

Monteiro, said to be a plant co-worker by the person who phoned in the report, was transported to an area hospital. His condition was not immediately available.
