Braintree Coronavirus Rate Drops: Latest State Numbers

Braintree is still considered a "yellow" community, but both its COVID-19 case count and percent positive rate dropped.

BRAINTREE, MA — In a week when 40 Massachusetts communities were designated at high-risk for coronavirus spread, Braintree saw its case count and percent positive rate trend in the right direction.

State rules mean that high-risk communities, plus others that were high-risk in the last two updates, cannot move on to the next phase of reopening. Towns were marked high-risk, or red, if they reported more than eight confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks.

The state kept Braintree's coronavirus threat level as "yellow,", meaning it averaged between four and 8 daily cases per 100,000 people over the last two weeks. Braintree averaged 6.53 new daily cases per 100,000 residents.
