Braintree Could Get Nearly $1 Million In Roadway Improvement Funding
A bill for transportation improvements is heading to Gov. Maura Healey's desk after passing both the Senate and House.
BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree is set to receive nearly $1 million in funding that should help make roadway improvements in town.
The Massachusetts State Legislature recently passed a bill that includes $375 million in bond authorizations for transportation needs across the Commonwealth, including $200 million for the state’s Chapter 90 program, which provides municipalities with a reliable funding source for transportation-related improvements, including road and bridge repairs.
“Each and every town here in the Commonwealth, and specifically within the district that I proudly serve, will benefit from this funding which will be used to complete important projects such as road resurfacing, sidewalk repairs, direction and warning signs, traffic signals, crosswalks, and street lighting,” said State Sen. Walter Timilty.

“This necessary funding will enable municipalities within the Norfolk, Plymouth, and Bristol District to attain vital infrastructure improvements for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike,” said Timilty.
The amount of funding a municipality receives is based on local road mileage, population and employment.
