Braintree Crashes Lead to Charges, Including Drunken Driving

Police are pressing charges in two separate crashes that took place in Braintree last week.

On Dec. 9, Joshua Webb, 29, of Dorchester was arrested after police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Granite Street. When police arrived, they were informed that one of the drivers had left the scene. After a witness gave police Webb’s name, police used a canine team to locate Webb, who was found attempting to get in a taxi near Five Corners.

Webb was arrested on multiple warrants and additionally charged with operating with a revoked license and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

There were no injuries in the crash.

In a second unrelated crash at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 11, police responded to a reported car crash at the intersection of Union Street and Cleveland Avenue in which one of the cars failed to stop at the intersection.

Officers were able to locate a car that left the scene with the help of witnesses.

As police talked to the operator, identified as Emily Whalen, 24, of Venice, Florida, observations were made that led them to believe that she was impaired.

Whalen was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, operating to endanger, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and making an improper left turn.
