Braintree Crime Writer Signing Books at Thayer Library

Braintree resident Tom MacDonald, who has published two crime novels, will hold a book signing and author talk Thursday at Thayer Public Library. 

MacDonald's first book, The Charlestown Connection, was awarded Best First Novel at the 2012 Next Generation Book Awards. His second, Beyond the Bridge, was released in August. 

MacDonald has been an athlete, a bartender, has studied sociology, worked as a computer analyst and now works in the non-profit sector. He received his BA from Stonehill College, MBA from Boston College, Carroll School of Management and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine.

Beyond the Bridge is a prequel to The Charlestown Connection, which focuses on the crime solving of Irish/Micmac Indian protagonist, Dermot Sparhawk.
