Braintree Down In Statewide School District Rankings

BRAINTREE, MA — School Digger, a nationwide school rankings site, released its updated list of top Massachusetts schools and school districts Thursday, and the Braintree Public School System was ranked significantly lower than it was a year ago. In the new rankings, which were based partially on MCAS test data the state released last week, Braintree was 89th, down from 51st a year ago.

The rankings mean Braintree performed better up than 73.4 percent of all other districts in the state. That's below the high water mark of 84.6 percent posted in 2016.

Thursday's School Digger release also showed how individual schools in the district compared to every other school in the state:

• Liberty Elementary, 153rd of 934 elementary schools.
• Ross Elementary, 153rd of 934 elementary schools.
• Highlands Elementary, 202nd of 934 elementary schools.
• Flaherty Elementary, 213th of 934 elementary schools.
• Hollis Elementary, 251st of 934 elementary schools.
• Morrison Elementary, 301st of 934 elementary schools.
• South Middle School, 104th of 476 middle schools.
• East Middle School, 113th of 476 middle schools.
• Braintree High School, 105th of 340 high schools.
