Braintree Goes Blue for Police This Saturday

Blue light bulbs will be available for sale Saturday at Town Hall. All donations will be given to the Braintree Police Patrolman's fund.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree will shine blue this weekend.

A Shine Braintree Blue event is being planned for May 13 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Town Hall. Residents will be able to make a donation and receive a blue light bulb that they can light at their home to show their support for the Braintree Police and all police officers.

The event is being organized following the shooting of Braintree police officer Donald Delaney at Motel 6 Friday night.

All donations will be given to the Braintree Police Patrolman’s fund to assist the officers involved. Cards of well wishes and thanks will be collected from anyone that would like to drop them off and will be sent to the Braintree Police Station. Posters will also be available for people to sign to offer words of support, according to Braintree Town Council President Sean Powers

The blue bulbs were obtained through the assistance of Richmond Hardware. Free coffee, donuts and cookies will be served from donations from the Andrade Family and area Dunkin' Donuts and Montilio’s Bakery.
