Braintree Hazardous Waste Day Is This Month

Most household, lawn, garden, automobile, and boat chemicals are accepted, along with pool chemicals, rechargeable batteries, and more.

BRAINTREE, MA — It's now spring, which means it's officially cleaning season. Spring cleaning is the time when many residents clean-out their basements, garages, and most other rooms. No matter what room you're cleaning, the Town of Braintree wants to remind residents getting rid of household hazardous waste can cause serious environmental problems.

But the recycling/trash department is offering a solution. From 9 a.m. to noon on April 13, Braintree is sponsoring a spring drop-off event at 90 Pond Street that lets residents get rid of hazardous waste while simultaneously reducing harm to the environment.

Most household, lawn, garden, automobile, and boat chemicals are accepted for $5 for every five gallons or five pounds of material. This includes oil paint (no latex paint-that can be dried out and disposed of in the trash), solvents, fertilizers, hobby supplies, poisons, oils, marine chemicals, cleaning fluids and pool chemicals, to name a few. If you would like more information, call the Recycling Office at 781-794-8088 or visit:
the town's website to see the "Household Hazardous Waste Flyer."
