Braintree High School's Varsity Dance Team ends the Winter Season on a great note winning the highest honor at the NE Dance Championships!
Braintree High School’s Varsity Team wins First Place at the highly competitive New England Dance Championship. The competition was held at Enfield High School in Enfield Connecticut on March 5th. The team was awarded the distinction of first place in the Pom Division and second in the Jazz Division. More than 30 teams across New England qualified and competed in the event.
Braintree’s Varsity Dance team is coached by Jamie Hale Campbell and Assistant Coach Lindsay Coleman. Coach Campbell states “This team is explosive! Their technique is unmatched and their ability to demonstrate great technical skills that get better and stronger every year is nothing less than exceptional. I am so impressed with their ability to work together as a team, motivate, and push to become stronger dancers. The team was led by four extremely hardworking and motivated captains that worked tirelessly during practice and non- practice hours to promote team unity and bonding that truly showed in their performances.”
At the New England Dance Championship, the Braintree Dance Team competed in two events. In the Pom Category the judges commented on the team’s strong Pom technique, fast-paced routine, and beautiful kick line. For the jazz routine, the judges were equally impressed with their opening Fouetté turning section and the ability to have full team involvement throughout such a high technical level skill. Glowing remarks were made on the staging of the routine and the aerial acrobatics that were performed. Coach Campbell continues “Leading up to a competition such as the New England Dance Championship, we know we are going to compete against teams of high caliber. Our team worked incredibly hard to perfect our routines and add in more difficulty to compete at this level. They truly rose to the occasion. “
