Braintree High School's Varsity Dance Team Wins First Place at MSAA State Competition
Braintree High School's Varsity Team won First Place at the MSAA State Dance Championship
February 15, 2017: Braintree High School’s Varsity Team won First Place at the MSAA State Dance Championship held at Needham High School this past weekend. Braintree’s award winning dance team placed first in the Varsity All Styles Division. Teams from across the state competed for the title.
According to Head Coach Jamie Campbell, the varsity dance team’s recent wins prove why they are a force to be reckoned with. “I challenged the team with incredibly difficult and technical routines this season,” she said. “I choreographed a routine that showcased their talents and love for the dance. Every day, they worked together and pushed one another to improve their dance skills. I have seen such progress throughout the year, not only in their technical skills, but in their overall ability to dance as a team. This team is not only hard working, but they are extremely dedicated. They ask for more frequent and longer practices and truly love to compete. I admire their motivation to improve not only individually, but as a team”.
The Varsity Dance team will move on to compete at the New England Championships held in Enfield, CT on March 4th. The team was selected to compete in two genres: Pom and Jazz. Last year, the team earned first place in both categories at the New England Championships held at Braintree High School.
