Braintree Holding Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event

Get rid of your paints, pool chemicals or other hazardous waste that can't go in the trash.

BRAINTREE, MA — Do you have any paints, pool chemicals or other hazardous waste that can't go in the trash?

Braintree officials announced the town is holding a household hazardous waste event to help residents dispose of these items properly.

On Saturday, the trash and recycling department will host the event at 74 Pond Street from 9 a.m. to noon.

The events cost $10 for small loads and $20 for large loads. No electronic items will be accepted at this event. Town officials said this is cash only.

ACCEPTED ITEMS - $10 Small Load, $20 Large Load (Cash Only)

Oil Based Paints

  • Interior and Exterior Paints, Stains, Varnishes, Clear Topcoats, Shellac, Lacquers
  • No Latex/Water-Based Paint:
    • Dry out and place in trash (Kitty litter or sawdust seeds drying process)

Mercury

  • Auto/Boat Switches
  • Barometer
  • Blood-Pressure Cuffs
  • Bulbs (Fluorescent, Compact Fluorescent CFL and High Intensity Discharge - HID)
  • Chemistry Sets
  • Glass Thermometers
  • Thermostats

Chemicals

  • Pool/Automobile Fluids
  • Boat Chemicals
  • Chemicals in Aerosol Cans
  • Cleaning Fluids
  • Fertilizers/Pesticides
  • Fungicides/Herbicides
  • Gasoline/Kerosene
