Braintree to Host UK Parliment Member from Braintree Town

BRAINTREE, MA — On Tuesday, Braintree will meet Braintree when a member of parliament from Braintree, England comes to Braintree, Mass.

On Aug. 9, Mayor Joseph Sullivan will welcome the Hon. James Cleverly to Town Hall for an afternoon reception. The MP is scheduled to visit the Sylvannus Thayer House.

“I am looking forward to welcoming Mr. Cleverly to Braintree,” Sullivan said in a release. “Braintree, Mass. and Braintree, Essex have always maintained cordial and friendly relations yet this is the first time that a member of Parliament for the original Braintree has visited our Braintree and it is an honor to host him.”

The mayor and member of parliament are expected to talk about the histories of the two Braintrees and the current political landscape in both countries.

Cleverly has severed in the Parliament of the United Kingdom since May 2015. Previously, he was a member of the Greater London Assembly.
