Braintree HS Headmaster Search Back On
The school district had opted to not go with Jonathan Bourn, who was picked as the lone finalist from the first search.

BRAINTREE, MA — The search is back on for the next Braintree High School headmaster.
Superintendent Frank Hackett announced Monday night that the search has been reopened. The announcement comes only weeks after it was announced that Norwood High School Principal Jonathan Bourn was named the lone finalist of 24 applicants. When asked what prompted the decision, Hackett declined to respond.
“We were down to one candidate. I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk about the decision,” Hackett said.

For the school district, it’s the second time in less than a year a search for a high-level position has been reopened. Hackett said the high demand and expectations for high school principals combined with the often small candidate pools make it a challenge to find an ideal fit. He added that while the challenge in finding a new high school principal is not a Braintree issue nor a Massachusetts issue, but a nation-wide issue, he's confident that the right person will be found.
“We take this seriously and we’re going to find the right candidate, even if we have to go out five times,” Hackett said.

Meanwhile for Bourn, it's one less place he may possibly land after this school year. Bourn announced last month that he will leave Norwood effective July 1. He remains a finalist for the principal positions at Medway High School and Belmont High School.
Applications are due by April 27 with a goal to have a headmaster by late May.
