Braintree HS Moving Ahead With Bleacher Repair

Town officials believe that the repairs will be done before the next home football game.

BRAINTREE, MA — The clock is running to get the Braintree High School track and turf bleachers ready in time for the next Braintree High School football home game.

Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced at Monday’s school committee meeting that he has authorized the use of $55,000 to repair the home stands. The stands have been closed since August, when structural defects forced the schools to close them.

Sullivan said the repairs will take 12-14 days, pushing completion of the repairs very close to the Wamps’ next scheduled home game - Oct. 6 vs. Brookline. Repair crews have been authorized to work through the weekend.

The work will include reinforcement of the stand's existing columns. Sullivan said they would do more preventative work in the future.

Braintree was scheduled to play their first game of the year at home but the closed bleachers moved the game against Quincy down the road to Archbishop Williams.
