Braintree Man Arraigned On 45 Gun Charges

Police said they seized six shotguns​, seven rifles, nine handguns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, plus swords, axes and knives.

QUINCY, MA — A Braintree man was arraigned in District Court and now faces 45 gun charges.

According to police, Edward Lyman, 56, was at Beth Israel Hospital and threatened the staff, after they told Lyman leaving the hospital was not in the best interest of his health. The Patriot Ledger reported that according to court documents, police tried looking for Lyman at his home. Police said they showed up, but Lyman wasn't there. The homeowner gave police permission to search Lyman's room. Police said they seized six shotguns, seven rifles, nine handguns, thousands of rounds of ammunition, plus swords, axes and knives.

Lyman's charges include 15 counts of possession of a firearm with a firearm identification card, 14 counts of possession of a large capacity magazine, and 15 counts of improper firearm storage. Lyman is scheduled to appear in Quincy District Court on Jan. 25.
