Braintree Man Arrested On Gun Charges

Police said the suspect tried running away and was clutching something in his right pocket, which turned out to be a loaded gun.

EAST BOSTON, MA — A Braintree man was arrested after police said they found an unregistered gun on him after he ran away when officers tried to speak with him.

Damari Larkins, 18, was charged with unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

At 7:39 p.m., Thursday, officers from Boston Police's Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol near Waldemar Avenue. Police said there was a group of young men, they knew from previous police encounters congregated there.

When police went to talk to the group, they said the group dispersed. Police ran after the group and eventually caught up to Larkins. Police said he was clutching something in his right pocket. After police subdued Larkins, they said they found a handgun with seven rounds of ammunition in his pocket.
