Braintree Man Faces Charges After Dragging Police Officer
Holbrook police said a Braintree man pulled an officer roughly 20 feet after fleeing the scene of a traffic stop.
BRAINTREE, MA — A Braintree man faces three charges after officers said he pulled a police officer roughly 20 feet while fleeing a traffic stop.
Holbrook police received a 911 call for an "erratic operator that was seen pulling behind a business in Holbrook," on Tuesday.
Officers quickly located the vehicle and the driver, later identified as Matthew Connell, of Braintree, became uncooperative.

"Connell put his vehicle in drive and fled from the officers at a high rate a speed pulling one officer approximately 20 feet before they were able to free themselves," police said.
Connell was later arrested by Braintree police and transferred back to Holbrook for booking. He is charged with operating with a suspended drivers license, failure to stop for police and assault and battery on a police officer with a dangerous weapon, in this case, his car.

Connell was held on $2,500 bail and transported to Quincy District Court on Wednesday.
