Braintree Man Hits Lottery A 2nd Time, Wins $15 Million

For the second time in the last 15 years, Hammill, of Braintree, won millions of dollars in the Massachusetts State Lottery.

BRAINTREE, MA — John Hammill has had a lucky decade-and-a-half.

For the second time in the last 15 years, Hammill, of Braintree, won millions of dollars in the Massachusetts State Lottery. On July 26, Hammill hit the jackpot, winning $15 million in the "Massachusetts Millionaires' Club" instant ticket game.

Hammill previously won $1 million in 2006 of the state lottery's "Set For Life" scratch ticket game.

For the new prize, Hammill chose the cash option on his prize and received a one-time payment of $9.7 million (before taxes).

He bought the winning ticket at Adams Variety at 22 Independence Ave. in Quincy. The store will receive a $50,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
