Braintree Man Hospitalized After Police Search

A Braintree man was taken to an area hospital after police said he made "suicidal statements" on Thursday morning.

BRAINTREE, MA — There was a heightened police presence in one Braintree neighborhood on Thursday morning as officers looked for a man they believed to be suicidal.

Police arrived to the area of Plymouth Road and the Highlands around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday looking for a man "who left his home after making suicidal statements and believed to ingested pills."

Officials from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, Quincy Police Department and Environmental Police were aiding in the search, with Quincy providing assistance through drone and the Environmental Police helping search on ATVs.

Officers eventually found the man after searching the woods behind South Street and Old Country Way. He was transported to South Shore Hospital, officials said.
