Braintree Mayor Praises High School's Performance in Newsweek Rankings

BRAINTREE, MA — A new report from Newsweek has Mayor Joseph Sullivan praising the faculty and staff at Braintree High School.

Last week, the high school was ranked the 16th best in Massachusetts by the news magazine in their list of the best high schools in America. Overall, Braintree High School came in at 436th.

"I think we need to pause and reflect. Not that we want to be number 16, we want to be number one, but when you pause and reflect on the work, we’ve made a lot of progress. There’s a lot of applause that needs to be sent around to a lot of good folks," Sullivan said at Monday night's school committee meeting.

According to Newsweek's research, 73.8 percent of BHS students are college ready, and 88.3 percent of its graduates are college bound. Braintree High was 451st listed in 2015's rankings.
