Volunteers organized by Council President Meredith Boericke donated the lunches to Father Bill's & MainSpring on Monday.
BRAINTREE, MA — Martin Luther King Jr. day grants a lot of people the day off of work, but it doesn't mean everyone spends the day lounging.
Many people use the holiday honoring Dr. King as a day of service, including a number of volunteers in Braintree this year.
Council President Meredith Boericke hosted a "Morning of Service" on Monday, which was attended by a number of residents from across the area.

Those folks gathered at Town Hall to put together 150 bagged lunches, which they donated to Father Bill's & MainSpring, who distributed the meals.
"Residents delivered food to Town Hall on Sunday, children cheerily decorated lunch bags, adult volunteers wrote thoughtful notes to accompany the lunches, and many others made sandwiches and assembled the bags that were delivered this afternoon to MainSpring in Brockton," said Boericke.
