Braintree Motel 6 To Appeal License Revocation

The motel's license was revoked by the board of health Thursday.

BRAINTREE, MA — The owners of the Braintree Motel 6 right off of Route 3 are fighting to reclaim their recently revoked operating license.

In a statement given to the Patriot Ledger, a Motel 6 corporate spokesman said they intent on appealing the board of health's decision.

Thursday, citing the large amount of crime and incidents at the motel, the board voted 3-0 to revoke the motel's operating license. By law, the motel can operate until Tuesday to facilitate closing procedures. A police detail that has existed at the motel for years has been canceled by Police Chief Paul Shastany.

Pressure to revoke the motel's license escalated following a May 5 incident where Braintree police officer Donald Delaney was shot while a group of officers attempted to serve an arrested warrant to a person staying at the hotel. The guest was found dead inside his room.

After Thursday's meeting, Braintree Town Council President Sean Powers said he expected the motel to fight for the license in court.
