Braintree Opens Football Postseason Against Bridgewater-Raynham Friday

The Bay State Conference Carey Division Co-champions will open the postseason by taking on third-seeded Bridgewater-Raynham.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree High School's football team, which finished the regular season at 5-2, was seeded sixth in the MIAA Division 2 South playoffs. The Wamps will open the eight-team tournament this Friday at 7 p.m. when they visit third-seeded Bridgewater-Raynham High School (6-1).

If Braintree wins Friday's game, they will advance to play the winner of Natick (6-0) vs. New Bedford (3-4) on either Nov. 3 or 4 at a time to be announced after the opening round is complete.

The MIAA switched to a playoff format in 2013. The state semi-finals are scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 17 and 18, with state championship games scheduled for Dec. 2 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. For more on the state football tournament, see the MIAA football Website.
