UPDATE: Braintree Pop Warner Cheerleaders Win National Championship

UPDATE: The scores have been posted on the 2012 Pop Warner National Championships website.

Competing against 11 other teams from around the country in the Midget Cheer Level 2 Medium division, the Wamps scored 89.98 percent, beating the second placed Blackstone Valley Pop Warner by slightly more than 1 percent.

The Braintree Pop Warner A Team Cheerleaders won the 2012 National Championships in Orlando Friday afternoon.

They also won for choreography and most points scored, Kathy DeWitt reports by email.

"Congratulations to these 7th and 8th grade girls for a job WELL done and for conducting themselves as we have taught them to and for bringing this award home to the Town of Braintree," she said.

The team is expected to stop by Town Hall on Sunday, Dec. 9 between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Also, its fundraising effort continues. The four-day trip to Florida cost approximately $25,000. Donations for the team's travel can be made at http://www.eteamz.com/braintreepopwarner/index.cfm?showdonate=1.
