Braintree Site Could Become Remote Terminal For Logan Airport: Report
The Massachusetts Port Authority has OK'd a $150 million garage at a location where airport shuttle buses currently stop.
BRAINTREE, MA — As it tries to ease traffic tie-ups outside Boston's Logan International Airport – and security tie-ups inside – the Massachusetts Port Authority has been exploring the use of remote terminals for passenger check-in.
Braintree may ultimately become a check-in site, the Boston Business Journal reported.
The Massport board on Thursday OK’d a $150 million budget to construct a new garage at the Logan Express bus stop near South Shore Plaza. Initial plans call for the parking structure to accommodate a remote terminal there.

Massport’s Logan Express buses shuttle passengers between the airport and five locations. In addition to Braintree, they’re in Back Bay, Danvers, Framingham and Woburn.
The authority already plans to test out using the Framingham site for more than convenient parking spots. Eventually, it could allow passengers to check in for their flights, check their bags, and pass security screening before taking the bus to Logan.
