Braintree Student Arrested for Bringing Gun to School
A 14-year-old was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

A 14-year-old student at the St. Francis of Assisi School in Braintree was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly bringing a gun to school.
Braintree police were made aware of the situation after a student at the school informed police that the suspect bragged about having the weapon. Another report to police said that the gun could be see in the suspect’s bag.
“I applaud the actions of the student in bringing this to our attention. If you ‘see something, say something’ never rang more true,” Chief Russell Jenkins said.

After police informed the principal of the report, a search of the suspect’s locker turned up a loaded 9MM gun. The student is being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The identity of the student is not being released due to their age. The suspect will be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Thursday.

Jenkins said the investigation is ongoing but the incident appears to be isolated.
