Braintree Superintendent Search Back and Expedited
Several sitting superintendents have expressed interest in the position, according to the school committee.

Braintree’s next superintendent could be coming to town earlier than expected.
School Committee Chairman David Ringius told the board Monday that several sitting superintendents have expressed interest in the position through the Mass. Association of School Committees and Mass. Association of Superintendents, leading to the committee to vote to reestablish the search committee to interview candidates.
“We didn’t want to pass up on the opportunity to speak to these individuals,” Ringius said, mentioning during the meeting that several other school districts including Weston; Dover-Sherborn; and Andover are expected to enter the marker for a new superintendent.

Ringius declined to name how many candidates will interview for the position, aside from saying that more than one person has shown an interest in coming to Braintree. Like the first superintendent search, initial interviews will be conducted by the search committee in executive session. The finalists will be interviewed by the school committee in open session.
Last year, Superintendent Maureen Murray announced her retirement effective July 1. The first search resulted in two candidates that Ringius called “strong but not the right fit.” The search was terminated in April prior to the final interviews.

A new superintendent could start as early as this fall.
The expedited search does not take away the need for an interim superintendent. Ringius said there will be an announcement on the matter at the next school committee meeting on June 15.
