Braintree Wins Girls' Basketball D1 State Title, Archbishop Williams Takes D3 Championship

Not one but two girls’ basketball state championship are coming to Braintree.

For the second year in a row, the Wamps are the Division 1 champions, beating Springfield Central 64-42 at the DCU Center in Worcester on Saturday night.

Ashley Russell led the way for the Wamps with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Molly Reagan had 11 points, and Bridget Herlihy scored five points.

In the Division 3 game, Archbishop Williams claimed the title with a 69-46 win over Hoosac Valley.

The trio of Alana Gilmer, Jaylen Williams and Tayler Wornum led the game with 18, 10, and 7 points.
